Cheese Walnut Loaf


8 oz self-raising flour

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 teaspoon salt

good sprinkle pepper

4 oz butter or substitute

4 oz finely grated cheddar cheese

1 oz chopped walnuts

2 eggs

1/4 pint milk


Sieve together flour, mustard, salt and pepper, then rub in butter or substitute until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Add cheese and walnuts, then mix to a soft dropping consistency with beaten eggs and milk.

Turn into well greased loaf tin and bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

When cold, cut in slices and spread ith butter. Serve with cheese and salad.
