Autumn Chutney


2kg apples

1kg pears

1.5kg tomatoes

2kg soft brown sugar

1/4kg sultanas

1/4kg raisins

1 litre vinegar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon cayenne (if desired)

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon pepper

2 teaspoon salt


Peel, core and chop apples and pears.

Skin and chop tomatoes.

Place all ingredients in a pan and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

When thick and brown, remove from heat. Bottle and seal.
